Heartiest congratulations to Aarushi Gupta of Grade 9 B who has become a published author with Scholastic Quill Club Writers. This was the culmination of a carefully curated and guided writing and publishing programme – “Write Now” that identified aspiring young talented writers from across the country through a 2-step selection process, provided mentorship and moulded them into published authors. We are proud of her and wish her all the best in her future endeavours!
Carrying the torch forward from Aditya Balakrishnan of the batch of 2020, in the ‘Study in Australia’ video making competition held online in January 2020, our team comprising of Kavya Bhat and Kalyani Joshi of grade 11 with Ms. Moushmi as the mentor won the first prize in the theme “where the wild things are”. The magnificent quartet Prem Sagar, Samarth Shrimal, Siddharth Chandak and Siddharth Shrimal, all students of grade 12 made the school proud by becoming the Region 2 finalist in the prestigious Wharton Global Youth Investment competition with over 600 participants worldwide, that allowed the teams to develop an investment strategy and build a portfolio using $100,000 in virtual cash.
The students lived up to the maxim of “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” and went through grueling rounds in the 12-week simulation-based competition. Using newly acquired financial literacy, strategic thinking and creativity, the team beat out hundreds of other student teams to emerge as the region 2 finalist. In this year’s edition, more than 5000 students from 35 countries vied with each other in the qualifying round.

With an unending quest for knowledge, Anirudh Karat Sudhir of grade 12C, embarked on the National Economic Olympiad conducted by the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce held on 7th and 8th of November 2020. A unique one-of-a-kind examination, that had application based questions which tested the comprehension ability, lateral thinking, knowledge, creativity, and presence of mind, brought out the best in Anirudh who secured the 11th position at the all India level.

The Scientific Teen, a platform to display scientific temperament among teens organized a 24-hour coding hackathon event between 17th Oct 8pm to 18th Oct 8pm with the theme on health. Young programmers from round the globe collaborated in this 24- hour challenge to work with great agility on accomplishing the tasks assigned.
Our young team comprising Prisha of 12 and Pranshu of 9 grades, participated in this intense competition and emerged victorious by bagging the second prize in the Covid pandemic category and came fourth in the honourable mention across all divisions.
The virtual hackathon empowered the students to exhibit their skills in programming and they did make the school proud with their stupendous achievement.
It was a spectacular show by the students of NPS HSR who were crowned overall institutional winners in the Christ Junior College fest Colossus 2020, held between September 24th and 26th. Our students rose to the occasion and lived up to the expectations by making it to the victory podium in many events.
Riding high on the crest of the wave were Aryan Tanwar and Prem Sagar of 11C who pitched their way to the first place in a marketing blitzkrieg contest called pitch perfect, while compatriots Rysha Sultania and Sruthi Viswanathan walked away with the top honours in Rhetorica, a multifaceted journalism event that tested the contestants on writing, speaking, analytical and quick-thinking skills. There were only advances and no declines for 11th grade commerce students Siddharth Chandak and Samarth Shrimal who had a bull run and won the second place in the Gafla Bazar contest which saw grueling rounds of crisis and portfolio management, real time and mock stock based on news. Aditi Panda and Meghana Narayan of the same class came up trumps in Merchant of menace by winning the third prize.

Kavya Bhat of NPS HSR 2020 batch has made us all proud by securing the first rank in PES Scholastic Aptitude Test.
Ishaan Mishra of Grade 12A, put his thoughts into paper on a space sojourn beyond the realms of our solar system, and exploring the interstellar human space travel, enabled by technological advancements. His essay “Dawn of a new space age” won him accolades at the contest held in July, 2020, in the high schoolers’ category, conducted by ‘The Limitless Space Institute’, a not for profit organization, headquartered in Houston, USA.
Powering his way to secure the third place in the essay contest, Ishaan accentuated on the possibilities looming large in the horizon in the form of VASIMR- the Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket, which is an electrothermal thruster under development for possible use in spacecraft propulsion and Nuclear fusion technology that can make rockets of the future. The saga from the pale blue dot to the unknown and unchartered territories of the vast expanse, through the composition replete with citations, earned him an award of $500 and participation in a radio show called “The space show” hosted by Dr. David Livingston.
The TiE Young Entrepreneurs TYE- high school programme culminated in a global competition across 23 cities of the world in a virtual showdown from Seattle, USA on the 17th and 18th of July, 2020. The grand finale had 24 teams vying with each other for the top spot in the flagship event that had design thinking, validation, prototyping and business models components.
The quartet comprising of never say die entrepreneurs in the making Angaddh Anil and Atharv Kaushik of grade 10, of NPS HSR along with two other members, weaved their way into the finals and represented Bangalore city in the global challenge, the journey to stardom was not a flash in the pan but a year- long endeavor honing the skills required to compete at the international stage.
The live wires “Vox populi” to mean Voice of People with a mission to give voice to the democracy designed a mobile application that caters to the Public distribution system and its related problems. They made the cut with their business model that had the desired 9 building blocks of Unique Value Proposition, Unfair advantage, Channels, Customer Segmentation, Problem, Solution, Key Metrics, Cost Structure, and Revenue Streams. They hit the home run with an incredible pitch that showed their resilience and tenacity. The champions broke new ground with their cutting edge business model that won them a cash prize of $250.The school takes pride in their achievement and wish many more laurels.
Anantharaman Subramanyam Iyer, a student of grade 10C, emerged as a finalist at the virtual finals held between May 10th and 15th, 2020. He teamed up with his sister and hit the jackpot with an innovative idea of a “mobile app for resolving conflicts between students”. Their idea presented at the IRIS National Science Fair in January was selected to represent India at the 2020 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair,2020, spanning 75 countries, organized by the Society for science & the public for students of grades 9 to 12, is the world’s largest international pre college science competition. The competitions are held in 21 different categories and Anantharaman catapulted his way to the finals with his entry in the behavioural and social sciences stream. The school recognizes the creditable and noteworthy performance of Anantharaman for his dedicated research work and design of the application that won him accolades at the international forum.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India recently conducted the ICAI Commerce Quiz 2020 for students from grades 9 to 12. The quiz was held online on June 29 to identify talent in students and encourage them towards Commerce Education.
Anirudh Karat Sudhir of 12 C bagged the 26th All India rank and 1st in Karnataka in his category and a cash award of Rs 2000.
Chirantana Pradeep of 9 A, Aarushi Gupta of 9 B and Anshu Varahagiri of 12 C have been awarded appreciation certificates in their respective categories.

Ilina Mukherjee of Grade 6 won the 2nd place in the Melio Speaking challenge in declamation. It is an international public speaking competition with 110 participants across world and 16 of them getting into the finals. Congratulations Ilina! We wish you All the Best for your future endeavours.
Mrinal Jain of grade 9 has created the right ecosystem for his entrepreneurial dreams by initiating the founder talk series which sees successful entrepreneurs sharing insights and their business acumen as part of his initiative called the http://www.monsterbrain.me. This platform founded by our enterprising student Mrinal is for high schoolers to make their ideas into reality by connecting the students to mentors, who can guide them.
The first in the Founder talk series, on 25 April, 2020, had Mr. Sachin Jaiswal of Niki.ai, an enterprise that brings digital services to rural India through AI, presenting his entrepreneurial journey and the challenges he faced to an enlightened high school audience. The enthusiastic students took great interest in the session and interacted with the speaker by asking him pertinent and relevant questions.
In the prestigious TiE youth programme held on 9 May 2020 for high school students, Anggadh Anil and Atharv Kaushik of grade 10 along with their team members pitched their way to the grand TYE Global finals. The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) founded in Silicon Valley, is a nonprofit organization devoted to the mentoring, networking, education, funding and incubation of startups.
Their flagship event for the grades 9 to 12 saw our Young Turks rising to the occasion with their one of a kind product, using the Vox Populi platform which is hugely engaging, user friendly, ergonomically designed and responsive. They defeated the other 6 teams at the post with their innovative idea and stole the show. They are now all set to become the next generation entrepreneurs and will vie for the coveted international prize.
