Grades 11 Field Trip - Visit to Hampi
On 11 December 2019, History students of Grade 11 set out on a three day sojourn to one of best heritage sites of India, Hampi, with their first stop being Daroji Bear Sanctuary. The city Hampi, with its awe-inspiring temples, palaces, markets and monuments was a historian’s paradise. Vijay Vithala Temple with its world-famous chariot, the Virupaksha Temple with its intricate Gopura, Ugra Narasimha, Kadelakalu Ganesha were the highlights of the trip. The students also visited palaces like the Lotus Mahal. At the end of the day, students gained a deep understanding of the culture, architecture, and the mythology that the city was steeped in. Although today this ancient metropolis lies in ruins, it is easy to imagine the grandeur it exhibited at its peak.
