On November 13, 2020, National Public School, HSR witnessed its first ever virtual inter-school fest – Odyssey. The event provided the students a unique opportunity to participate in a plethora of events ranging from art and music to fashion and journalism. Right from choosing creative names for their events and to their planning and eventual execution, the students displayed remarkable discipline, meticulous planning and impressive organizational skills. The fest saw participation from the sister concerns of NPS family in Bangalore and Chennai. Students participated in the events with great enthusiasm, albeit online. In her opening address Ms Shefali Tyagi, the school principal, emphasized on the importance of participating in such fests and declared the event open.
In Effardeia, the band event, the performers had their audience in thrall with their spectacular performance. For Terpischore, the dance event, the participants were assigned dance routines through a virtual spin wheel and needless to say the contestants rose to the occasion with élan. The organizing committee of Tainia, the short film event, had assigned the participating teams a theme, embodying which the teams presented a 10 minute long short film. Aphrodite’s Chamber, the fashion event, provided a visual treat to the virtual audience through a display of distinctive and out-of-the -box outfits. While Elyssian, the art event, tested the contestants’ artistic skills, Pheme, the journalism event brought to fore their dexterity in handling different forms of journalism. Mythos, the literary event, included three scintillating rounds assessing the contestants literary knowledge, writing prowess and oratory skills. At the end of a closely fought competition, National Public School, Indranagar, emerged overall champions.
