On 8 September ‘23, the grade 12 Biology students attended the MedEx Fair at St. John's Medical School. The visit offered a fascinating glimpse into the world of medical education and practice. The fair showcased various facets of the medical field, including the anatomy lab, pathology, microbiology, Basic Life Support (BLS) training, and forensics, providing a comprehensive overview of the rigorous training and diverse disciplines within the medical profession.

The journey began in the anatomy lab, where the students witnessed the intricate study of the human body. It was a remarkable opportunity for the students to see firsthand how the incredibly complex human body was structured. Next, the Museum of Pathology offered a hands-on opportunity to study the progression of diseases and their impact on the human body.

Microbiology was another highlight of the visit. Exploring the laboratory and witnessing the identification of microorganisms, such as tuberculosis, responsible for infections was both educational and eye-opening. The focal point of the fair was the Basic Life Support (BLS) training, emphasizing the critical skills needed in emergency situations. The students had the opportunity to practice life-saving techniques like CPR by themselves after an educative demonstration.

Finally, they delved into the intriguing world of forensics. The forensics students showcased how they use scientific methods to solve crimes and unravel mysteries. It was intriguing to see how medical knowledge contributes to criminal investigations and achieving justice. From meeting alumni to having conversations with the students, the visit to the MedEx Fair at St. John's Medical School was a memorable and enlightening experience.
