Onam Celebrations – A Blooming Celebration of Joy!

Onam, the vibrant harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm at HSR Global Montessori Centre. Our Pre-primary campus blossomed with the festive spirit as our little ones arrived dressed in beautiful traditional pavadas and mundus, carrying colourful flowers in their tiny hands.

The celebrations began with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by our dear Principal, followed by a graceful Kaikottikali performed by our teachers. The sight of our little learners watching with bright, curious eyes made the celebration even more special!

The children happily got busy creating beautiful pookalams in their classrooms, adding one colourful flower after another, and excitedly chanting “Aripoo, Aripoo!” They listened with wonder to the enchanting story of King Mahabali and discovered the colourful traditions associated with Onam, including Pulikali, Vallam Kali and Kathakali. They also explored the delicious spread of the traditional Onam Sadhya.

The celebration gave our young learners a joyful glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and helped them understand that festivals are all about coming together, sharing happiness and spreading love and harmony.

It was a delightful day filled with fragrant flowers, colourful pookalams, fascinating stories, happy giggles and beautiful memories—a little slice of Kerala magic for our little ones!
